What’s in a name?
Zenlayer was founded by Joe Zhu in 2014. As a veteran in the telecommunications industry, he felt frustrated that networking services sometimes took months to provision and were not flexible enough to meet rapidly changing demands.
So he set out to create Zenlayer:
“layer” refers to the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model that describes the seven layers computer systems use to communicate over a network;
And he wanted networking services to be “zen” – easy to use, no stress;
That’s how Zenlayer came about – we constantly strive for easy-to-use services with flexible consumption models to meet today’s changing business needs.
