With nearly four decades in the industry and thousands of employees, the customer provides their services to 100+ million enterprise and individual users around the world. Over the years, they have built a reputation for delivering cutting-edge security solutions, including antivirus software, firewall protection, and secure VPN services.

 

The challenge: uniting a fragmented global infrastructure across diverse locations and vendors

After the recent acquisition of a large subsidiary, the leading security services provider realized an urgent need to consolidate operations across their large number of providers and geographies to better keep up with the expanded user base—a tall order, given the company’s lengthy operational history and vast geographic footprint.

To do so, they needed to upgrade server specifications, streamline operations, and cut costs to ensure efficiency and compliance across their entire global digital infrastructure. However, complicated regional vendor and regulatory landscapes worldwide, especially in emerging markets, made managing this transformation challenging and stressful.

 

Bringing up server specifications to address new demands

The customer requested an upgrade to servers with high-performance processors with higher core counts as their existing servers that primarily ran off E3 series processors were not sufficient to handle the increased demand, leading to difficulties with virtualization and surging costs. Under our recommendations, they upgraded to servers with a newer generation of Intel Xeon processors, enabling them to cut costs by virtualizing more VM instances with fewer physical servers.
