Zenlayer CEO Joe Zhu Wins PTC Award for Outstanding Executive

Los Angeles, CA – January 17, 2023 – Zenlayer, a massively distributed edge cloud service provider, announced today that its founder and CEO Joe Zhu is the proud recipient of a 2023 Pacific Telecommunications Council (PTC) Award for Outstanding C-level Executive. The award was revealed at the annual PTC’23 conference in Honolulu, where Zenlayer is attending as a Silver Sponsor.

As the leading industry organization for telecommunications professionals in the Pacific Rim, PTC is advancing global connectivity, as well as the ethical development and use of information and communication technologies (ICT). The annual PTC Awards honor the individuals and companies who are improving connectivity and the quality of life for people and organizations throughout the region. The Leadership Awards segment recognizes outstanding achievements by company leaders in attaining tangible corporate results across stakeholders, while also supporting the mission and vision of PTC.

Zhu was recognized for his passion and dedication to making APAC more connected, accessible, and prosperous. A technology visionary, Zhu has over two decades of experience working closely with cloud and telecom leaders across the globe — particularly in emerging markets that need the next-level connectivity to support fast-paced digital growth. Thanks to Joe’s strategy and knowledge of local markets, Zenlayer is now considered a leader in the edge cloud space and a go-to provider for businesses looking to deploy into far-reaching markets.

What’s more, Zhu has a demonstrated ability to build and develop high-performing teams. At Zenlayer, he put together a powerful team of technology leaders to advise on key growth verticals like gaming, blockchain, and enterprise, among others. Zenlayer’s strong management team is guided by shared values and has roughly 80 years of combined experience in telecom, IT, and internet.

“I am incredibly honored for the award and I’m representing all Zenplayers to receive this,” says Zhu, who also serves on PTC’s Advisory Council. “This achievement amplifies the critical work that Zenlayer is doing in APAC, where we are continuously working to improve life for citizens and organizations who depend on digital services to live, work, and communicate. Our team is laser-focused on improving our portfolio of edge cloud services, and creating a more connected future for APAC’s rapidly growing digital community.”

In 2022, Zhu largely focused his efforts on expanding Zenlayer’s core network, product portfolio, and strategic partnerships. Under Zhu’s direction, Zenlayer now offers the most robust infrastructure in the world, with a network featuring over 290 global PoPs spanning across 110 cities in 50 countries, with more than 5,400 global peers and 50+ Tbps network capacity.

Zhu and David Xie, Zenlayer’s Chief Product Officer, also oversaw the development of multiple products in 2022 including Zenlayer Virtual Edge, Bare Metal Load Balancer, and Zenlayer Virtual Machine, as well as a new zenConsole that features an innovative Partner Experience component. In addition, Zhu helped Zenlayer partner with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Amazon Web Services, Megaport, Equinix, Intel, Dell, CoreSite, Telin, Cloudflare, and many others to better connect global businesses with emerging markets through high-performance edge compute and networking services.

Zenlayer was also recognized with a lineup of industry awards in 2022, further enhancing its reputation as the leading edge cloud services provider in emerging markets.
