If you’re a subscriber of Zenlayer Bare Metal or Zenlayer Virtual Machine (VM), you can now change your internet traffic pricing model between Flat Rate and Data Transfer via zenConsole. We made this change to give you more flexibility and cost-efficiency in your daily operations.
Here’s a quick reminder on these pricing models:
- Flat Rate: You’re billed by bandwidth at a flat rate. We bill you based on the bandwidth cap you’ve chosen for your instance. Flat Rate permits unlimited data transfers and are a great fit if your business traffic is relatively stable with the occasional burst in traffic.
- Data Transfer: You’re billed by your selected data transfer package, with overage charged by the hour. This pricing model is helpful if you’re looking to optimize costs based on actual usage.

How do I change my subscription model?
It’s quick and easy to change your pricing model on zenConsole.
To modify your Zenlayer Bare Metal subscription:
- Start by logging into zenConsole and navigating to your existing bare metal instances by clicking on Bare Metal under Resource Overview.
- Please note that pay-as-you-go Zenlayer Bare Metal instances are not eligible for pricing-model adjustment. Ensure that the bare metal instance you’re trying to modify is on subscription, then click on the … to the very right of the instance name. Navigate to Order and Bill in the dropdown menu that appears, then click on Change Network Pricing Model.
- This opens up the Change Network Pricing Model module, where you will see your currently selected pricing model and the alternate pricing model that your Zenlayer Bare Metal instance can be switched to. Once you’ve configured your bandwidth and reviewed the summary, click on Confirm Scheduled Changes to complete your selection.
To modify your Zenlayer VM subscription:
- Start by logging into zenConsole and navigating to your existing VM instances by clicking on Virtual Machine under Resource Overview.
- As with Zenlayer Bare Metal, please note that pay-as-you-go Zenlayer VM instances are not eligible for pricing-model adjustment. Click on the … to the very right of the subscribed VM instance, then navigate to Order and Bill in the dropdown menu that appears. Now click on Change Network Pricing Model to open its module.
- Here you will see your currently selected pricing model and the alternate pricing model that your Zenlayer VM instance will be switched to. Choose your bandwidth and if everything looks good, click on Confirm Scheduled Changes to complete your selection.
When will my instance’s new subscription model take effect?
Once your pricing model change request has been submitted, please note that your current subscription cycle will continue to be billed under the previous pricing model. Your newly selected pricing model will take effect on the next billing cycle.
If you’re having second thoughts and would like to revert your instance subscription to its previous pricing model, you can do so any time before the new model takes effect by following the steps detailed above.
